Professional Academic Advisors

Professionals Academic Advisors typically meet with students when they are new to MSU Denver, between 0-60 credit hours, transfer students or need help with General Studies. Additionally, they can:

  • Explore and declare a major, minor, and/or concentration
  • Design a class schedule
  • Teach you how to use tools like the Registration system and the Degree Progress Report
  • Connect you with your Academic Department and other support offices
  • And much more!

Faculty Advisors

Faculty Advisors typically meet with students when they are further into their degree programs, usually between 60-120 credits. Students may also be looking to faculty advisors for Graduation checks and Graduate School and Career Resource planning. Additionally, they can:

  • Lend expertise in their fields
  • Provide students with recommendations for major or minor course selection
  • Assist students with identifying internship and career opportunities
  • Offer guidance for students considering graduate school
  • Serve as references or write letters of recommendation
