Feel like it's time to go to that conference, but you don't have the money? Always wanted to do some amazing research, but can't find the funding? GITA has a grant for that.
The Gender Institute for Teaching and Advocacy sponsors eight scholarships: the Gender, Women, and Sexualities Studies General Scholarship Fund, the Activist Scholarship, the Nueva Esperanza Scholarship, the Pamela McIntyre Marcum Scholarship, the Laura McCall Endowed Scholarship, the Kinnie Family Trust Degree Completion Scholarship, and the Woman’s Club of Denver Endowed Scholarship! Additionally, GITA offers two grants that can be found right below the scholarships. These awards are given out each academic year primarily in the Fall semester. The Activist Endowed Scholarship is designed to support students who are actively engaged in efforts to support positive social change in economic and/or social justice.

Migrant farm workers’ hard-won labor has fed our family and community all my life, so this scholarship is for them, especially the women who hold it all together. It comes with respect, gratitude and admiration for what migrant families have contributed to this nation and how they will change our future. Children of migrant farm worker families struggle fiercely for education and use their degrees to build a more just world. It is a pleasure to help them. The purpose of the scholarships are to annually benefit those, preferably women, with significant family responsibilities and a migrant worker family background.

The Pamela McIntyre-Marcum Memorial Scholarship is designed to provide scholarships that support students who have overcome issues of violence.

The Dr. Laura McCall Endowed Scholarship celebrates the life and passion of Laura McCall, beloved faculty member and family member. Laura’s unwavering commitment to creating opportunity through education, and to the power of understanding history and the contributions of women to changing the course of history, is recognized in this fund. This scholarship exists to provide scholarships to students pursuing a degree in History or Gender, Women and Sexualities Studies.

The Kinnie Family Trust Degree Completion Scholarship is established to provide scholarships to assist students that have a history of domestic violence and are utilizing the resources available from the University’s Gender Institute for Teaching and Advocacy (GITA) department to assist them over the finish line so that they can obtain their degree. Scholarships can assist with covering tuition, books, and fees. designed to provide scholarships that support students who have overcome issues of violence.

The Women’s Club of Denver Endowed Scholarship is established to provide financial assistance to dedicated students at Metropolitan State University of Denver majoring in Gender, Women, and Sexualities Studies.
Applicants must:
• Be meeting the University’s Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements and cannot be in default or owe any refund/repayment of federal, state or institutional aid.
• Have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher.
• Have a declared major in Gender, Women, and Sexualities Studies.
