The Auraria Campus Student Dietetic Association (ACSDA) was founded by Nutrition and Dietetics students at MSU Denver. This club focuses on connecting students with department and community resources that help prepare them for the field of nutrition and dietetics. The club focuses on health and wellness through personal nutrition and education offerings, provides networking opportunities for students, as well as volunteer and career opportunities. See below for the variety of ACSDA sub-groups!
The Eating Disorder Awareness (EDA) Group was founded by graduate Nutrition and Dietetics students at MSU Denver. This sub-group of the Auraria Campus Student Dietetic Association aims to provide educational opportunities for all future healthcare practitioners or other students interested in eating disorders on the Auraria campus to better prepare them for their future career. This group also aims to promote comfortable conversations pertaining to eating disorders, disordered eating habits, body dysmorphia and related topics. Partnering with the Auraria Campus Student Dietetics Association (ACSDA), the new Diversity in Dietetics subgroup has been established with the intention of building peer support and hosting educational workshops for students, staff, and community members. The Diversity and Dietetic Club can be reached at [email protected] or at their Facebook page.
During Fall and Spring semesters, the Department of Nutrition hosts a Nutrition Nerds Journal Club aimed at getting students and faculty together to interact, build community, share ideas, and keep up with the latest in nutrition research. Current and new MSN students will be emailed information each semester about Nutrition Nerds meeting times. For more information about the Nutrition Nerds Journal Club, contact [email protected].
The Post-baccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans grant (POHA-Denver) within the Department of Nutrition offers students an opportunity to connect with peers, faculty, staff, and professionals every semester to attend workshops and conferences. Topics include those related to cultural intelligence, diversity and inclusion in the field of nutrition and dietetics, financial literacy, etc.
Colorado Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics
The Colorado Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (CAND) is a non-profit professional organization representing Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs), Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs) and dietetics students.
Rocky Mountain American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
The Rocky Mountain American College of Sports Medicine advances and integrates scientific research to provide educational and practical applications of exercise science and sports medicine. The Rocky Mountain ACSM provides local educational, professional and networking opportunities.
