The Degree Progress Report (DPR) keeps track degree requirements for your currently declared program(s). It shows you how you are completing them. Your academic department may have department-specific resources for you as well.

A DPR isn’t considered an official MSU Denver transcript or record of completed coursework. It is an advisory guide and may not reflect completed information until the final graduation check. Changing your schedule, catalog year, repeating a course, completing a course with less than the minimum required grade, changing a major, minor, or concentration, or any other changes to the academic record may impact the information reflected on the DPR.

There could be a few things happening. If you don’t see any transfer credit at all, your transcript may not have arrived yet or it may still be in the queue for processing.

If you’re missing individual classes they may need to be evaluated to see if they are equivalent to a class here at MSU Denver. Connect with an advisor in your academic department. Sometimes the transcript you sent doesn’t have final grades from your last semester at your previous institution. There are ways we can see what’s going on.

Good catch. This is something to watch out for. Many classes cannot be repeated and count toward graduation, but a few can. Check with an advisor in your department for more information and to see if any adjustments need to be made to your DPR. Don’t wait until you apply for graduation to do this!

Many academic departments have documents with suggestions for what to take each semester in order to graduate in 8 semesters. Check with your department to see what resources they have. Some departments also use a tool called the Academic Planner to help you do some long range planning.

On a DPR you can see grades, your GPA, your catalog year, and information about any transfer credit counting toward your degree and how it applies to your currently declared program. You can also see the name of your assigned academic advisor. Knowing this information will help you plan a class schedule and prepare for a meeting with an academic advisor. Knowing this info will help you stay on track to graduate.

If your major, minor, certificate, credits completed, transfer credit, etc. doesn’t look correct or if something just doesn’t look right to you, reach out to your academic advisor. They may not always be the person to “fix” things, but they can get you connected with people who can answer your questions. Don’t wait. If something doesn’t look right, check it out.

If you think you are close to graduating, definitely check with an advisor and have them review your DPR. Check out the list below of things to check on your DPR. It’s not an exhaustive list – which is why you want to check with an advisor!

· Your progress bar should be reading 98%. Even if it’s not, check in. Sometimes there just need to be adjustments made.

· You should have completed 40 upper division credit hours completed

· You should have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher

· You should have completed 120 credit hours total · Find a full list of requirements in the catalog. Search for your catalog year here.

If you are unsure about how courses are appearing on your degree progress report, it’s important for you to meet with your advisor to review your information. Schedule a time to meet with your advisor! If you’re an exploratory student your DPR may look a little different, too – and that’s OK! We can still help you out.

Your DPR is your official degree progress report that shows how classes are meeting requirements for your degree, including transfer credits and any courses that you may have degree exceptions for. The DPR is what the university evaluates when you apply for graduation to ensure you have completed all requirements for your degree. Your Academic Planner tool is designed to help you (in partnership with an academic advisor) to design what semester to take your classes in. Soon, you will be able to register for classes off of this plan but for now, it’s a great tool to become familiar with so you can plan what classes to take and in what semester to keep you on track for completing your degree.
