About this Program

Through the Elementary Education Minor, you build foundational knowledge of serving diverse communities with a focus on emergent literacy, instructional technology, and special education.

Dr. Sell is among our faculty recognized by the Faculty Senate Teaching Excellence Award. At present, Dr. Sell is co-authoring an elementary social studies methods textbook as collaboratively sponsored by the National Council of Social Studies and the Library of Congress. You might meet Dr. Sell at the LGQBTIA+ Affinity group for educators which he launched in Fall 2021.

Maria Magallanes, literacy lecturer, brings 26 years of experiences in elementary schools not only as an elementary educator but also as a literacy coach. You might meet Ms. Magallanes in a literacy methods course early in your studies or during residency where she also joins our team of residency supervisors.
