About this Program

The Early Childhood Education minor program is an excellent way to gain knowledge about young children’s development, early childhood curriculum, and trauma-informed and equity-focused practices to accentuate a degree in psychology, communication, social work, or a myriad of other majors.

You will meet with an early childhood education advisor to select relevant courses to complete the program.

Benefits of Earning This Minor at MSU Denver

The Early Childhood Education minor provides knowledge and experiences that support students’ preparation to work with young children in a variety of formal and informal education and care settings.

With this minor, it is possible to obtain an Early Childhood Teacher certificate through the Colorado Shines Professional Development Information System and begin working with children in centers throughout the state right away. It is also possible for the courses you select for this minor to count toward Colorado early childhood teacher licensure should you decide to pursue it in the future. Selecting courses with a faculty advisor is the best way to ensure that the classes you select will best meet your needs and future plans.

Additionally, in our School of Education programs, you will experience:

  • A diverse student population
  • Engaging, topical coursework
  • Supportive faculty and staff who value diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Clinical experiences in partnership schools across the Denver metro area throughout your program
  • Incredible value
